We're in the middle of a pretty major life change. We've lived in downtown Toronto for around 15 years (I grew up here). My wife got recruited for a great job in a small community about three hours away - it's a very cool place that's rapidly changing from an agricultural base to a really diverse area - wineries, cider houses, awesome restaurants, tons of tourism ... it's a leader in the local farm to table movement ... really exciting. It's been written up in the New York Times, Conde Nast, and a bunch of other international publications.
Real estate in Toronto has been pretty nuts for the past decade+ so it seemed like a great opportunity to cash in our chit. We're moving from a three story loft condo to a sprawling bungalow on over an acre of land. Back to cutting grass & shoveling snow (I need to go back & read that snowblowing thread). And learning about things like wells, septic systems, propane, satellite internet & tv, mesh networks, and on & on ...
I'm working on job opportunities nearby ... sounds like something should get solidified in the next few weeks. I'll keep my mini as I'll be going back to driving to work, but we had to get a second vehicle - so a Jeep Wrangler is now in our driveway (damn that's a fine vehicle!).
I'm kind of running on fumes ... but it's crazy exciting! Move date is next Friday.
If anyone is ever around here, let me know ... (the last picture in this article looks very much like our backyard! a far cry from our current view of the condos of downtown Toronto!!!)
