  • Who's the NL MVP?

The race is much, much closer than it's been all season long, with Yelich's season-ending injury and Belly slowing down a bit. You could make a case for at least 7 or 8 players.

    The candidates:
    Christian Yelich: .329/.429/.671, 44 HR, 97 RBI, 100 R, 30 SB, 178 OPS+, 7.1 WAR
    Freddie Freeman: .305/.396/.572, 38 HR, 117 RBI, 111 R, 142 OPS+, 4.5 WAR
    Cody Bellinger: .303/.407/.634, 44 HR, 106 RBI, 109 R, 11 SB, 170 OPS+, 8.1 WAR
    Ketel Marte: .329/.389/.596, 32 HR, 91 RBI, 96 R, 10 SB, 148 OPS+, 6.7 WAR
    Anthony Rendon: .333/.415/.623, 32 HR, 114 RBI, 109 R, 158 OPS+, 6.0 WAR
    Ronald Acuna: .282/.367/.514, 38 HR, 94 RBI, 117 R, 34 SB, 121 OPS+, 5.1 WAR
    Josh Bell: .277/.368/.573, 37 HR, 116 RBI, 94 R, 141 OPS+, 2.9 WAR
    Jacob DeGrom: 9-8, 2.70 ERA, 1.027 WHIP, 231 K, 5.8 WAR
    Josh Donaldson: .258/.382/.539, 37 HR, 88 RBI, 92 R, 131 OPS+, 5.6 WAR

Yellich was for me, but with his injury, I'd go with Bellinger.

I would have said Bellinger before Yelich's injury. Now it seems clear cut.

That said, how long before Acuna has two?

A lot of good names have great seasons.

Yelich was the easy choice for me pre-injury. Bellinger second.

I still think Bellinger needs to have a big finish to overtake Yelich.

I am extending Acuna two years in my NL only. So he has the next three years to get two. Two out of three ain't bad.

I agree with this take - Bellinger has had a rough last month or so. If he lights it up in the next few weeks, it's his for the taking. Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised to see Yelich win again.

Yeah, but who is the roto 5x5 NL MVP?

              Probably Yelich, right?

              Great list, by the way.
Larry David was once being heckled, long before any success. Heckler says "I'm taking my dog over to fuck your mother, weekly." Larry responds "I hate to tell you this, but your dog isn't liking it."

Blow to Yelich repeating, but even so, as of today it is still Yelich. As a mechanical process I would be interested in hearing how the difference in WAR w/J Donaldson being worth double Josh Bell translates, as they have similar numbers other than Bell having way higher ba/slugging/rbi/ops, yet Donaldson double WAR?

Defense. Donaldson has a 1.2 dWAR while Bell has a -1.4 dWAR.

If you want night vs day, these two have it covered.
