  • Drop Arrieta?

    14-team 5x5 H2H

Arrieta has been mediocre as of late (or longer). Are any of these guys an upgrade until Kluber returns?

    ASampson
    JChavez
    SAlcantara
    FValdez
    TRichards
    JVargas
    DakHudson
    MFiers

I'd take Lopez for sure over him. Richards is a good bet, too.

I own Lopez,. check his entire 2019 game log - and check with your doctor if PLopez is right for you.

some utter disasters - and gems. one subtle note is that Marlins are inclined to let him pitch the 6th or 7th rather than pinch-hit for him.

good if you cherish W (although the Marlins 'pen sucks), but a little scary for ERA/Ratio.

That's true, although he does have a 1.12 WHIP -- which is light years better than Arrieta's 1.45 WHIP. The difference with Arrieta is rather than a small handful of complete blowups, each start is rather miserable.

Wait, what? 3.53 FIP, 1.12 WHIP, why would he be scary in comparison to Arrieta?

I dropped Arrieta to bring back the en fuego Ian Desmond.

I did some research and realized a few things:

            - I have KGiles coming off the DL this weekend and will need to drop someone (candidates are Vogelbach and FReyes - with the trade of EE it's Reyes, which would leave me with only 3 OF)
            - My current and future opponents have 2/5/5 healthy SP so adding one is not urgent.

            Thanks for the input!

Vogelbach and Reyes both seem like they should be kept in a 14 team league.

                It's a shallow 14-teamer. No CI/MI, 1C, 3 OF

Here's tonight's lineup. It's a waste having 3 bats on the bench (Plus Wander).

I think you need to do some 2 for 1 trades.

And no one wants to hear this but the value of prospects like Franco that are far away is relatively low in shallow leagues like this with small benches compared to a standard format. I think their perceived value in these leagues is much higher than their actual value as they take up a bench slot and the bar for replacement level is so much higher.

I wonder what the odds are that he is better than Tatis or Baez in the next 2/3/4 years? If the answer is low, then what value is he to this particular team, other than a trade chip?

Franco is a keep forever player along with Strasburg, Tatis and Franimal backfilled from Round 22 (max of 4 per team). He's a trade chip as I've moved forever keepers Moncada (won the league), Giolito (runner-up) and Bellinger (missed playoffs on a tiebreaker) in recent years.

So I dropped Reyes to activate Giles and then Hill was put on the DL prior to the Jays game. I don't need a SP right now so I will just go with an empty roster spot and see if any interesting pitchers emerge.
