    It's actually really hard to be great early as a TE. It's one the the hardest positions to develop at the NFL level because of learning both the blocking and receiving responsibilities. This is one of the reasons why teams don't invest top-10 picks in them.

        I agree because nobody else had him on their board at that point. And if you wait until the 4th or 5th round and another team takes him is that really a lost opportunity? It is hard to place logic on this. This season either Quinn/Patricia makes the play-offs and actually win a game in the play-offs or he should be gone. It doesn't take 4 years to put a winning team together. NFL teams are easier to rebuild then MLB, NBA and NHL. Somehow the Lions have this 70 year re-build plan in place to win something.

          Ferentz is very good at getting TE's developed and they are a key focus in their offense. I think like his former teammate George Kittle, he will develop early and be very good. Your point is valid but we will just have to revisit this in a year or two.

                    I know it's only 1 game and all but 5 catches for 124 yards and a TD in game 1.
