The league is very shallow---12 teams mixed, 10 hitters (3 OF, 1 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 SS, 1 3B, 2 UT), and 8 pitchers (2 SP, 2 RP, 4 P), and 5 bench slots.
With a league this shallow, I know that stars and scrubs is the way to go. I just wonder how to do it, since I am not used to playing leagues this shallow. Do I just get Betts and Trout, etc., or do I go for more second-tier stars like Story, Blackmon, Freeman, etc.? Do I go heavy on pitching since some experts say that is the only safe way, or do less since other experts say there is a real pitching middle class this year (guys like Taillon, Bauer, etc.) that can compete for far less money?
Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated! It is not one of my main leagues, but there is a bit of coin on the line, and I have to beat Ike, so I am trying to take it seriously; which is tough since I know some of my targets in other leagues are waiver-wire fodder in this one.
