  • NL only: Do I keep Matt Kemp at $2

I'm trying to weigh Kemp's value in NL only, 9 teams, $260 budget, keeper league.

Is this the Reds setup for the upcoming year (i.e. Kemp is in a platoon)?
LF: Platoon w/ Jesse Winker against righties and Kemp against lefties.
CF: Platoon w/ Scott Schebler against righties and Nick Senzel against lefties?
    RF: Yasiel Puig

If Kemp is in a platoon situation then that's going to kill a lot of his value. Also, we have 5 OF max with only 1 UTL slot...so that cramps my draft slightly.
Should I keep or dump Kemp? Does he have significant value at $2?

    Here's my roster:
    2B Ozzie Albies [$10] 1of4LT
    3B Max Muncy [$10] 2of3
    SS Trea Turner [$16] 2of4LT
    OF Ronald Acuna [$5] 2of3
    OF Charlie Blackmon [$30] 4of4LT
    OF Matt Kemp [$2] 2of3
    OF Marcell Ozuna [$23] 4of4LT
    OF A.J. Pollock [$25] 4of4LT

    P Patrick Corbin [$1] 2of3
    P Noah Syndergaard [$20] 3of4LT
    P Alex Wood [$1] 3of3

in 9 team NL only, Kemp might be below replacement value. I'd plan on taking a better $1 OF late in the auction

so you draft 45 OF slots and up to 9 more.
      15 NL teams, 45 "starters."

he indeed looks to be right around replacement level for your league.
plus walking in with a 5th OF is a potentially significant "opportunity cost."

I wonder if you can peddle him for a pitcher of a similar level.

I am in agreement with Fres and Judge, drop Kemp (or trade him). You do not want that last OF spot filled up. You have a good amount of money left to grab an OF bargain if one presents itself.

I like the UT for the endgame money management so that last OF is a bit important.

In a vacuum, I might keep Kemp at $2 in a league that size. However, with your keeper list, definitely no.

I think a vacuum is the only place I'd play in a 9 team league
