Just had a long discussion with a friend of mine -- this is a Rooney Rule disaster. Five black HCs canned, only two left, in a league that's 2/3rds black. Also, after Ozzie Newsome's retirement and the canning of Reggie McKenzie, only one black GM remains (the Dolphins' Chris Grier).

The bigger problem, IMO, is that while white HCs and GMs routinely get recycled and get other chances, the (now former) black HCs typically do not. And like clockwork, right after our discussion, I saw that Rex Ryan is a candidate for the Dolphins job.

I'll guess that with 8 HC openings, just 1 or 2 will go to black guys and 3 will go to retread white guys. Of course, it is possible that one of these black HCs gets recycled (Bowles or Joseph), but again, that's a rarity.

Looks like Kliff Kingsbury (?!?!) to the Cards -- because he did such a wonderful job at Texas Tech and just got canned -- and Bruce Arians to the Bucs.

It's going to be worse than I predicted.....looks like all 8 jobs will go to white dudes.
