  • i really like biden. feel he has served a lifetime in trying to really help people and has tried to be a reach across the aisle type to hug everyone he could in reaching if not consensus, at least some common ground that leads to working together. but he looked terrible, not just from verbal miscues (billionaires clipping coupons in wallstreet?) but he so clearly has lost more than a couple of steps.

i hope for a full on drop off from a collective yawn for biden in polling sooner than later, not because i wish him ill. like i said, really like him. but this is not his time to shine, tag someone else in, call it done and a good career.

i mean, yes if it ends up trump vs biden, or trump vs whoever, you vote the whoever, but biden feels like he will be an energy sinkhole with not just inevitable verbal gaffes, but his baggage that he has collected along the way in his long career.

I agree with all of this, including the first part about Biden as a likable fellow and long time public servant. I guess I needed a reality check that we have a long way to go and many are not paying attention yet. I too hope that changes soon. It is a little scary still seeing him poll so well despite what we are seeing from him, or not seeing from him.

Guys, do not worry about Biden, he's toast.

Q3 fundraising numbers finally fully collected, and it's awful news for Biden. In terms of cash on hand, Biden sits with a hair under $9 Mil. That's way behind Sanders and Warren, in the $30-$40M range, and way behind Buttigieg, even slightly less than Kamala Harris. Only slightly more funds than Yang's $6 Mil on hand.

Biden is helped by his name ID, but voters are not liking what they're seeing (other than revo). At this rate, when does Andrew Yang overtake Biden for 3rd?

I still am not sure why Buttigieg isn't doing better. He did switch it up and get more aggressive last night, but it didn't seem to move the needle for him. I like him. Maybe it is his age/inexperience. Maybe it is that he chooses to keep things kinda vague on policy. IDK. Klobuchar came out swinging last night. She is fighting the good fight, but getting no traction.

              • This is why it just can't happen. Nothing this big can happen with our system unless it has overwhelming support.

                • I love my free health care, and I think Americans who don't demand free health care are pathetic. You don't demand free health care that the entire rest of the civilized world already has? Well, sorry, that's pathetic. I thought America was the greatest country on earth? Further, if you have health care yourself and it doesn't devastate your budget, and that's why you don't support Med4All, because of your own self interest, then you are a selfish motherfucker. Like the folks who fight against a $15/hr minimum wage when they themselves worked several years through several raises to get to $15/hr. Its selfish and short-sighted.

71% of the country now support Med4All, and you're all still paralyzed with fear? Holy shit, how much more do you need? Even Republican voters slightly support it, it's a winning issue.

Sorry if anybody feels insulted, I'm trying to keep this general, but anytime you guys want to talk about how impossible single payer health care is, I need to smack you with the reality that I already have this. My taxes are not crazy, and despite running my own business with health risks, I have zero health care expenses or fears. Get real. This is how health care is supposed to work. You're not supposed to have a million US citizens going bankrupt to medical Bill's, 10's of thousands dying from going untreated. That's barbaric and inhumane.

Is Canada just always going to be better and less cruel than the US in terms of health care? I mean, Sanders' Med4All goes much further than Canada's system. Maybe Sanders would compromise and you end up with a system like ours. Nooo.... better to go in with a public option, and come out with peanuts. Better to demand less.

I ave posted this before and you haven’t responded, but I will ask again. If Canada’s health care system is vastly superior to ours, why do you send so many cases here? And better yet, if we do implement your system, where are we going to send the cases we can’t handle. You send them to us—where should we send them?
Ontario is spending millions to send patients to the United States for stem cell transplants due to limited capacity for treatment, a problem first identified nearly a decade ago, the province’s auditor general said in her annual report tabled Wednesday.

                          • nots, canada is not sending "so many cases" to u.s. for treatment. the article you posted outlined some issues with canadian healthcare, namely long wait times for cancer related, and also spent some time talking about the cost of sending 53 cases, as reported by Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to U.S., Just 53 individual cases for stem cell transplants, an area canada is short of specialists.

The U.S. has tens of millions of people uninsured or underinsured health care, but the 53 cases are a big red flag? I am sure I can dig up many thousands of cases of people from U.S. flying to other countries for treatment where it is more affordable for say a hip replacement or whatever procedure that would be a huge multiple more expensive inside the U.S.

https://askepticalhuman.com/politics...to-us-for-care Lets talk about debunking the R talking point, though it is more a fringe group than main R I would hope as this is transparent, "People come to U.S. for healthcare." Look, there are longer wait times to be seen in some areas of canada, and there are also wealthy people who do not ned to wait for anything, so they can zip over and have whatever done tomorrow rather than wait a few weeks because if they have to pay the obscene U.S. bill, they, which they laugh off, they dont care, as there are still some wealthy canadians. But in general, canadians are happier with their health care system than U.S. people are with theirs, you can agree with that little last part, yes?

50-100 cases per year out of 12 million or so people? Seems like a pretty minor problem. They're mostly being sent to achieve better turnaround times, it's not like they would definitely die if forced to wait longer, we simply value our people highly enough to absorb the cost of that rapid treatment. It's in the article that the average treatment in Canada costs $128K in Ontario, and $600K in the US. Seems to me that costs would go down across the board as the profit motive is removed from the equation.
