quick question - who did you vote for president in 2016 and go back a few years too? and do you have any republican acquaintances who are so fed up with Trump that they would vote for her.
I am trying to see if Klobuchar could get moderates out of their seats to go vote for her
I've voted Libertarian for the past 3-4 elections.

I shared this way back in this thread. My Mom voted for Trump, but has voted for Klobuchar in the past for the Senate. If you can turn female Trump voters to Klobuchar, you probably have a winning formula. There is no chance those female Trump voters are going to swing so far to Warren or Sanders.

i have epiphanies like that all the time. for example i was watching a basketball game today and realized pom poms are like a pair of tits. there's 2 of them. they're round. they shake. women play with them. thus instead of having two, cheerleaders have four boobs.

The Focus on Rural America poll shows the former vice president with 24 percent and the next three top-tier candidates bunched behind him, with Elizabeth Warren at 18 percent, Pete Buttigieg at 16 percent and Bernie Sanders at 14 percent. Amy Klobuchar clocked in at 11 percent. The survey of 500 likely 2020 caucus goers, conducted January 15-18, and had a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.

Of course, Gordon Ramsey yelling at staff doesn't mean he can't cook. It has no real impact on her ability to be POTUS, but it was just kind of a turn off.

The NYT endorsement article actually covers the high turnover rate. IIRC, they also stated Biden and few others had similar rates. This leads me to think one of two things: Gender-bias or the other's didn't have it reported.

Not that i think you are suggesting it, but what difference will the opinion of a bunch of upper or upper middle class people in new york have on the election ? The whole episode was an excersise in self important narcissism. I really doubt anyone in the battleground states cares very much

I do realize that this is not for the general election. Just dont think it will matter much

No one actually buys a paper copy of their paper anymore and i suspect very few bother to jump thru the hoops to read for free. Anyway, just my cynical take on the situation.

                  • The New York Times is not just a local NYC paper. Lots of other media sources will report the NYT endorsement and it has been making the rounds on social media. So it could have some impact with voters still trying to decide, particularly if they were already in the market for a moderate Democrat and unsure about Biden due to age or other reasons. I think Klobuchar has a decent shot at a surprisingly good showing in Iowa that could set her up well if Biden and/or Warren stumble. (She's already benefiting from a Buttigieg stumble, IMO.) She's not likely to pull support from Sanders.

I'm sure Klobuchar and Warren will be pointing to the endorsement, I'd just be surprised if it has much of an impact. And I agree Klobuchar could be respectable in Iowa, but I suspect after that it will be downhill pretty fast.

                      • Ahhh, the small pleasures of the post 2016 election world.

                        Today's edition :

Watching HRC grasp at anything to try and become relevant. Her latest attempt, a hatchet job on Bernie. Nobody likes him... She sounds like a spurned ex. Won't endorse him. Good.

Petty, petulant and best of all. Irrelevant.

Ps. I really don't want trump taking Bernies side in any of this, which he will if only to taint sanders.

Her lack of self awareness is amazing. Someone needs to tell her that far far more people like him than her. Virtually no one that didn’t vote for her actually likes her. An awful lot of people that won’t vote for him, both like and respect him. She should just go away.

The last HRC attack was directed at Tulsi, and that seemed to provide a boost to her. I can see her attack on Sanders having the same effect, bolstering his support, especially among independent voters in open primary states.

Funny that so many people, to this day, repeat the media narrative from HRC, whining that Sanders didn't do enough to get her elected. He only did 40 rallies for her, after all, including rallies in the blue wall that she never visited and lost. Now she is smearing him and claiming she isn't sure she'll endorse him. I'm with you, an anti-endorsement from HRC is a good thing.

                            • Most politicians lack self-awareness because their default is to surround themselves with sycophants. But, HRC seems particularly clueless.

                              • I hate myself for devoting anymore mental energy to HRC, but today’s hatchet job on Sanders signals to me at least, that the corporate part of the Democratic Party is very worried about the Sanders campaign and is pulling out all the stops to derail him. Again, I am not a Sanders supporter, but I think their alarm on how this plays out is very fair.
