I figured that shock title would get some eyeballs. I'm highly critical of Fox News as a whole, and I think I have very good reasons for my feelings about the network. But I've long silently admired one programming decision they've made that recently got highlighted in this The Guardian article. That is the decision to not silence/fire Shepard Smith despite him not being in lock step with the rest of their propaganda machine. He is a vital voice of calm and correction on a network that tends to stoke fears and anxieties. His recent push back on the caravan as some doomsday march was an especially good example of this. I tend not to watch any of the 24 hour news networks, but any time I flip by Shephard, he seems out of place on Fox, and the fact that he is, yet still keeps him job at that network, is praise worthy. So kudos to Fox News for keeping Smith despite his critiques of Trump and even their other hosts.
Please give this short (2 minute video) a watch to see the contrast between Smith and his network cohorts. The honesty, and courage, it takes for him to say these things really is inspiring, and I feel I have to give Fox credit for not silencing him. The man is truly a voice in the wilderness. He renews my faith in journalism. My only wish would be for more Fox viewers to tune him in as a corrective and balance to the other shows they watch on the network. Instead he gets hate and ridicule from Fox fans for not toeing the party/network line:
