    Jacob Nix: worth a streaming dice-roll?

    AJ Cassavell of MLB.com hears that the Padres are planning to promote pitching prospect Jacob Nix this weekend to make his MLB debut in a start against the Phillies.

    Nix missed a chunk of the season with a groin strain, but he has registered a dominant 1.84 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 44/9 K/BB ratio in 58 2/3 innings (10 starts) between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso since returning to action in late May. The 22-year-old right-hander is known for his good command of a three-pitch arsenal and could have some deep-league fantasy streaming appeal right out of the gate in his debut versus the Phillies at pitcher-friendly Petco Park.

        If you are rebuilding then by all means take a chance on him. If you are contending then hard to say which ways this roll. I pick up Rodriguez SF pitcher and drop him when he had a bad start. Looking back it would have been good keeping him but I was thinking how many rookie pitchers pitch well the 1st time out and then reality sets in. In my other NL league my team is out of it so yeah I go after Nix.
