  • Prostate Cancer

    Hey all,

Hope all my Junkies are having a great summer!

So, I just found out today that I have prostate cancer and I need to have my prostate removed.

The cancer is not aggressive and I can wait until this October to have it removed.

I was wondering if any other Junkies have had their prostate removed and could fill me in on the "after" effects.

I'm aware of the urination and sexual issues but the doctor made both sound like it's a pretty tough process to work through.

In my mind, it is what it is....I've recovered from torn achilles, ACL, and other issues....

So, I wanted to here it from those who have been through it.

If anyone wants to DM me to keep it private....that's cool. Or you can email me as well.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey, just my prostate....

    Gris

    Good Luck Gris!

I dont have any experience with this. But I do wish you the best!

what bg said ... no exp myself (aside from regular tests), but good luck through the process; hope it turns out as well as is possible.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

One of my buddies just had his removed a few months ago and it's been hell for him (e.g., he's only recently stopped wearing diapers). His was aggressive though and had to be removed immediately so likely a more invasive surgery. I hope your recovery is far less painful, best of luck!
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

          Thanks for kind words, guys!

          Yikes, on your friend DMT!

Yeah, mine is well under control and that's why I can wait.

My PSA has been high for 4 years. Had a biopsy 2 years ago and there was nothing....but it kept going up and therefore, that was why I had an MRI and subsequent biopsy.

I'm sure there will be diapers involved early on but it's suppose to improve after 4-8 weeks.

I have no info to offer either. Gris, i truly believe that a positive attitude is half the battle here. You seem to have that going for you which will help you toward your recovery. Please keep us posted on your progress. Good luck and God bless my friend.

Well, so far....this is good news that no one has gotten it yet.

So, let me be the proponent to say, "Get check early and often!"

It is the #2 cancer killer after lung cancer, but is much easier to diagnose and treat if it's caught early enough.

Please friends.....get checked every year at annual physical.

              It's worth it.

My dad had his prostate removed, he must have been around 57 at the time. Sometime after that I noticed viagra in the bathroom.

My dad too at around that age, and you are lucky with just the viagra, I found much, much worse. (think manual rather than medicinal methods)

Not intentional, of course. I bought the house when he moved out and somehow he forgot it. I found it when cleaning out the cabinets.

Not sure how you forget something like that...

That's tough news, bud. Hoping for the best... hang in there!

I echo everyone's well wishes. As someone now in my 40s who didn't grow up with insurance and never goes to the doctor, hearing about the difference between early detection and late detection of things like this is a real wake up call that I need to start doing things like visit the doctor, have blood work done, etc. I'm an idiot for avoiding it. It isn't like ignoring these things make them go away. Gris, I'm really happy to hear that you have been proactive about your health, and have caught this early. It sounds like the outcomes are going to be better for it because of that.
