Prostate Cancer

Hey Gris, best of luck...I've got to do the prostate ultrasound and biopsy in a few months. Just a function of my age I guess...my PSA was 4 and I was told that's the baseline for possible Prostate cancer. Just out of curiosity, what was your level?

I recently had Rectal Cancer and had to have 3 surgeries in the past 3 months. Looks like they got it all, but now the monitoring is really stepped up. Not as bad as the surgeries, but a pain in the ass nonetheless...see what I did there?

Horns and Gris, I wish nothing but the best of luck to both of you. As I posted a while back my Son had/has Hodgkinson Lymphoma and he got through it. But there was no surgeries involved. I’ll keep you both in my thoughts.

My PSA levels started 4 years ago at 6, then 7 and they did a biopsy and found nothing.

Then last year it was 8.5 and this year it was 10. So they did the MRI and the biopsy.

4 is pretty normal....but at least you're keeping an eye on it.

When you turn 50, get a colonoscopy!

If you have already turned 50, and you haven't had a colonoscopy, get a colonoscopy!

My dad had his prostate removed, he must have been around 57 at the time. Sometime after that I noticed viagra in the bathroom.

Yeah, I've read about this as well. Should be fun!

I echo everyone's well wishes. As someone now in my 40s who didn't grow up with insurance and never goes to the doctor, hearing about the difference between early detection and late detection of things like this is a real wake up call that I need to start doing things like visit the doctor, have blood work done, etc. I'm an idiot for avoiding it. It isn't like ignoring these things make them go away. Gris, I'm really happy to hear that you have been proactive about your health, and have caught this early. It sounds like the outcomes are going to be better for it because of that.

Yes, please do....it's worth it to know you're in good shape or not.

My biggest fear would be to find out I'm in Stage 4 cancer....catch it early.
