At least they didn't give up any first round picks and they'll actually get cap room quicker because Howard has an expiring contract and Mozgov has two years left on the dumb deal he got from the Lakers. That means the Nets will have room for two maximum free agent offers in 2019-2020.

Seems like a generally positive deal for the Nets. Freeing up cap space a year earlier, right when they will finally be coming out from under the Celtics deal.
