In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

SF bailed out of the terrific signing of Austin Jackson yesterday...dealing him and Gearin to Texas for a bag of balls. Duggar got called up and started yesterday...and looks to join a platoon with Hernandez in CF. I have Duggar on my NL farm team and activated him for this week. Wondering what the expectations are ROS around here.

The way this one was reported in TX is that they are buying a prospect. Basically take on Jackson and Gearrin's contracts and they get Bahr to do it.

They actually asked Jackson not to report, simply a salary dump going to a rebuilding team which is unusual.

This would be the fourth consecutive season the Giants are over the luxury tax threshold, so their thinking is shedding salary if they can so they can possibly acquire someone before the trade deadline without being over again.

On June 14, Brandon Crawford was hitting .328 with an .891 OPS. Since then, he's hit .197 with a .573 OPS.

My wife and I were escorted from our season ticket seats this weekend for "your excessive use of excessive language" as the Dodgers were crushing us......

Bruce Bochy says he will retire after the 2019 season, which will be his 25th year as a manager. He currently has 1,926 wins and 3 World Series championships.

Besides his 3 wins with the Giants, he also took the Padres to the World Series, but lost. Still, 3 WS wins, and taking 2 teams there gets you to the HOF, right?

I blame Bryce Harper for this:

Giants CEO Larry Baer vs. Mrs. Baer

If you are in public especially if you are a known person you have to beware of social media at all times. Not a good look.

To get 2000 wins, he needs to go 74-88. Seems pretty unlikely in a tank year.
Larry David was once being heckled, long before any success. Heckler says "I'm taking my dog over to fuck your mother, weekly." Larry responds "I hate to tell you this, but your dog isn't liking it."

He's now taken the dreaded "leave of absence":

March 4: The Giants announced Monday that Baer is taking a leave of absence. The team issued the following statement on the matter:

"The Board of Directors of San Francisco Baseball Associates is closely monitoring the matter involving Giants President and CEO Larry Baer. Pursuant to League policy, Major League Baseball is taking the lead in gathering all facts surrounding the situation. The organization is cooperating fully with the process. Mr. Baer has acknowledged that his behavior was unacceptable, apologized to the organization and is committed to taking steps to make sure that this never happens again. He has also requested, and the Board has accepted, his request to take personal time away from the Giants beginning today. The Board has asked the Giants executive team to manage the day to day operations of the Club during this period, reporting directly to the Board. As leaders in the community, we at the Giants hold ourselves to the highest standards and those standards will guide how we consider this matter moving forward. We have no further comment at this time."
