The condolences on Youtube seem to indicate that Lasorda's popularity stretched well beyond the American borders. Not sure if any manager has ever achieved that kind of worldwide fame. And probably only a few players.

                    • An amazing collection of all time greats have died recently. While there have been diverse reasons for the deaths it would be odd if the pandemic and the conditions surrounding it were not not somehow involved. Have non pandemic deaths increased greatly overall in the last twelve months?

It does seem like it. Not only from what is reported in the media, but in Mrs. Gregg's and my personal life. We have lost 18 significant people in our lives in the last 18 months. Only two were covid related. It has been a brutal stretch.
