          • Long-time TV personality Hugh Downs died on 7/1. He was 99. As a child I remember him as the host of the game show "Concentration". He was a long-time host of 20/20 on ABC. He was always smiling whenever I saw him. RIP.

                      Costner is a bit too unlikable in that one from my recollection, but I really enjoyed it when it first came out.

                            • Michael Brooks, political analyst, co-host of The Majority Report, and host of The Michael Brooks Show, passed away suddenly at age 36.

                              I've loved this guy for his intimate understanding of international politics, and his advocacy for socialism broadly. Just a year younger than me. Unreal. I've been off the political stuff lately, but his death is a massive loss for the voices of the left. RIP
