If you arent watching Paddack/DeGrom tonight you are missing out. As a huge fan of top end pitching this is a treat.

Brilliant game last night. Paddack's intensity and passion are contagious. His location is what sets him apart.

The Dodger series this past weekend was saved by the Renfroe homer, but was still a "hey, know your role" by the Dodgers. Unlike prior years when we never had a chance against that team, at least we were in each game this weekend.

Ah 12 team. Still probably rosterable there. Are you limited to 6 SP/4 RP? Or can you go 7/3? I'd want Strahm over a 4th RP.

We bucked convention/"best practices" and went SP 1-2 (Max 1.3, Verlander 2.10) and then snagged guys like Boyd, German later rounds, Porcello off waivers when his frustrated owner dropped him in heart of Red Sox shit start (and, well, Porcello's...but he's coming around a bit like the whole team).

We CAN go 7/3 so yes, perhaps we drop/trade Castillo and grab Strahm since we have a good lead on saves with Yates, Greene, Smith. Good call.

I would do that, yes.

Shouldn't you already be going at least 7/3 in 6x6 with QS as the extra category? It seems like that heavily incentivizes starters. Heck I play 7/2 in a typical 5x5 more often than not.

The bullpen is overworked and talent deficient as opposed to past years. This needs to be shored up or being in the games will be a Pyrrhic victory.

And it's nice to see that he's got a bit of the Red Ass in him as well, apparently, he was pissed that Peter Alonso won the rookie of the month, and said so. Then made it his personal challenge to dominate him last night...and he did. Alonso handled it like a pro...said all the right things, but it could be a fun rivalry for a long time to come.

Alonso is pretty mild-mannered. but when he broke a 5-5 tie in the 9th last night with a HR that I think still hasn't landed yet, he offered a hefty bat flip.

Padres didn't throw at him today (at least not early anyway), so they may have figured they had it coming given Paddack's antics.

Antics? Goodness, if they considered those comments as "antics" then mlb players are now the most weakminded professional athletes around. I can't imagine anyone being that feeble. Paddack basically said that he respected Alonso (in fact, "He’s a great player, no doubt"), and he was looking forward to the challenge. How is that "antics"??

Much more likely that a dramatic 9th inning HR bat flip didn't actually bother anyone. And it really shouldn't. Hitters celebrate. Pitchers celebrate. Who cares?

The ump cared. After Alonso touched home the ump grabbed him and had a few words. That being said, I don’t see antics from either side. Two great competitors.

this is in mid-May in the early innings of a Mets-Padres game. at this rate, if the Padres get into the playoffs, he will be lighting himself on fire if he gets a key late-game strikeout.

and as I say, the Padres didn't get all agitated by the elaborate bat flip the next night and retaliate - almost as if they noticed the parallel begun by their own guy over a dopey 'month' award. there have been numerous "target " pitches this year already in MLB after similar celebrations.

just noticed some stellar 'shade' from Alonso on the outflanked Paddack: "he said something about winning the Rookie of the Year. That would be nice, but I'm trying to win a World Series.”

Look pitchers and hitters can do what they want but I am amused that people are surprised when it rubs the opponent the wrong way but hey anything goes in the "look at me" times we now live in. People shouldnt be surprised when someone takes exception to it. Nobody likes to be shown up.
