It didn't work out like I planned, as it turns out they are, in fact, chumps. I've seen caretaker QBs before, but I don't think I've ever seen a team employ a QB who wanted him to do nothing but hand the ball off before tonight.

What's the point? Five weeks ago they traded for Percy Harvin! They signed Eric Decker to a long-term deal! Those are quality WRs! If they want to grade out Geno Smith, freaking use him to do something! Maybe this is a battle between Idzik and Ryan, but whatever it is, this is ridiculous.

weirder still is that Rex and the Jets players still want to win, which I can't criticize. and as bad as Geno is, I can't claim a better game plan for that.

I think Rex wanted to keep open a shot at another head coaching gig. that was a decent game plan for 3 hours, given Geno and he has to for now cater to the lame-duck GM.

amazing that all AFC contenders have bad losses or barely-escapes. or both.

They would have been blown out if they let Geno throw the ball much more than that. I don't know why Miami didn't sell out against the run in the first half, but they adjusted in the second half and the Jets didn't adapt.

We know Rex is a lame duck but we don't know if Idzik is. Woody works in mysterious ways.

I agree with you more than I disagree. But.....

We know that Idzik made the call to start Geno again, going against Ryan and Mornhinweg. So if the last few games of 2014 is meant as a final evaluation period and this is how it's going to go, then there clearly is something going on here between Idzik (possibly gone) and Ryan (almost certainly gone). How can Idzik evaluate Geno if all he's going to do is hand the ball off?

Rumors floating that the Skins will fire Jay Gruden after this season (let's remember he was just signed to a fully-guaranteed five year contract last offseason and the word is the rift is over Gruden's refusal to play RG3. If this plays out I will feel confident in saying the Redskins are more incompetent than the Raiders.
