  • Super Bowl XLVIII: Denver vs. Seattle

    anyone?

    Bueller?

    ok, next question.

it was 12 degrees in East Rutherford this morning, and the wind chill in the stadium parking lot made it feel like minus 7 gazillion. this after they got a foot of snow last night (which caused rush hour chaos last night before getting plowed away this morning).

game starts at 6:25 pm local time.

if we set getting to the region aside, how much would you guys pay to go, assuming no rooting interest? minimum seat price lists at $800 and at about double that on the secondary market.

My brother suggested we go but for the very reason ... WEATHER ... I don't want to go. Not in Cali or Arizona? Just crazy...

With no rooting interest? I wouldn't go unless you paid me considerably to go. It's going to be miserable. I thought my hands were going to fall off tonight on a 5 minute walk from the PATH to my apartment. Standing outside for 5 hours (with the what seems like an hour halftime show) in that? No thanks.

For no rooting interest? No way. I've sat through worse for Michigan games and would do so again, but for a game I don't care about? I'll sit 10 miles from the stadium and stare at the Statue of Liberty out of my living room window instead of Bruno Mars, tank you berry much.

Are you living in Jersey City now?

I actually like the idea of a cold weather SB -- hell, if they can play Championship games in miserable weather, why not the SB? -- but I wouldn't actually want to go to one!

                so you're saying there's a chance!

fyi, my seat will be outdoors in an end zone halfway up - and outside. same seat as previous ones in Phoenix and Indy, but no such weather woes for either of those.

now will I be paid enough for the effort by umjewman's standards to make it worth it?

My best friend and his brother are staying with me over the weekend and going to the game. He is very indifferent this year because of the cold but hanging out with me and my family tipped the scales
                  and
he doesnt want to break his streak of attending the last 31 consecutive super bowls (yes 31) - and he is a Bengal fan so he has no rooting interest

Yeah, we're following the B-Fly plan to suburbia. We've been in Jersey City for about 3 years. this is our in between stop.

From what I understand of a journalist's salary, nope!

Don't get me wrong - if I cared about the game, I would happy embrace the weather. In 2008, I was at Michigan-Northwestern, 20 degrees constant rain in the midst of a 3-9 season. Just all around misery. Took about 6 hours to warm up. Used my gloves as tissues. Good times. But for Seattle-Denver? Good game, but pass.

Wow...no one would pay to go to the game...even in the cold?

I'd probably pay $150 a ticket. Now i don't really have a ton of income, so that's a lot of money...and especially consider that my wife and son would also want to go...so that's $450 right there.

I doubt I'll ever go to a Super Bowl. Too expensive.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

some tix down to $1,500, not clear if it can go any lower, likely depends on weather forecast

In the early 90s when the Skins were still good you could tix for a couple of hundred. I always thought I would go the next time they made it. 20 years of suckiness and with current prices I don't think I could attend even to see the Skins. I surely wouldn't fork over that kind of cash to watch a game where I don't care who wins regardless of the weather.
