  • RHD's Top 150 Roto Prospects ('Pre-BA Top 100')

Well, finally here it is. BA's Top 100 will be posted shortly, if it isnt already.

Same as usual, I generally follow BA's prospect eligibility requirements, which are <=130 MLB AB or <=50 MLB IP. Unlike BA tho, amateurs, unsigned draftees and foreign players are eligible. As usual, this is for roto, not 'real' baseball, so pitchers are downgraded some, catchers downgraded somewhat (unless they're elite prospects and their bat will play at any position), actual closers upgraded a lot, SB guys who project to get playing time get upgraded some, and guys who either currently are or are project to soon be regulars can get upgraded quite a bit. Position listed is their current primary one to the best of my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong), not the one they're likely to end up at.

This time, I included write-ups, which is why I'm so late in posting. Actually, the initial write-ups didnt take me long, but going back and re-reading all the BA scouting reports took a while. I posted the write-ups separately because of the lack of good formatting. Not only that, but I found that there is a 10,000 character limit on posts.

I have now posted the write-ups in separate threads, the links to which are below:

Can you include write ups on the guys who either jumped 20+ spots or dropped 20+ spots? I would be curious to see the rationale for them. Thanks again.

ETA: One that jumps out at me is Gose. I assume that is due to the fact that Wells is no longer in his way at CF and he has speed.

        Thanx for the response, schelsinj.

I plan to post all the write-ups in separate threads, and provide links to them in the main thread. Probably have to do in groups of 50 each, since that's all that will fit w/i the char limit. Will try to do tonite.

Wow, stepping up with write ups. I can't wait to read them all. Your hard work is much appreciated.

Remind me of your rules for ranking. You focus on roto production right, not the overall player? That explains the big Gose love. But it does surprise me to see an all glove guys like Matt Dominguez ranked in the top 70. I know there is big value in having a glove good enough to ensure you'll be given an every day job, but his bat looks really weak so far. Do you see some upside there?

Yes, it's a roto list. Gose was the only guy in my top 50 that wasnt on BA's Top 100. Obviously, my reason is his SB potential and the fact that he did get very good scouting rpts and projects to be a MLB regular.

Dominguez has a reputation as a glove-first guy, but his offensive stats have always looked pretty solid to me considering he's always been young for his leagues. He stands a reasonable chance of being an opening-day starter in MLB in his age 22 year, so his impact will be soon, if not immediate. It looks to me like he could put up close to average stats (except for SBs) pretty soon, which is fairly valuable in roto if you can get him cheaply. I sort of see him like Morel: wont be a star but could be a solid regular; that's why I ranked them next to each other.

Yes, I do put in a lot of work on them. But I've maintained this list for years for my leagues. So, it's mainly just that in the past 2-3 years or so I've decided to post them here, so it's not very much extra work for me. At first, I posted it here just to see what the reaction would be. I've gotten mostly friendly and appreciative responses here (unlike some other sites), so I'm enjoying continuing to do it.
