  • Keeper Thoughts

My main league is a 12-team AL + Brewers, Cubs and Cardinals league, 5x5, with OBP and SLG replacing BA and HR. $260 for the auction, about 15% inflation (keepers can only be kept a max of 3 years). I can keep up to nine.

    Almost sure keepers:

    Corey Hart - 10
    Ben Zobrist - 10
    David DeJesus - 8
    Paul Konerko - 20
    Shaun Marcum - 9
    Dallas Braden - 6
    Jeremy Guthrie - 1

    Other possibilities:

    Jake McGee - 3
    Wade Davis - 8
    Joakim Soria -19
    Mike Napoli - 13
    Kevin Youkilis - 31

    Thoughts? TIA!

Yeah, I'd keep Napoli at that price...he's usually pretty good in OBP and damn good in slugging. I'd probably keep Soria too ay 19.

I edited my last post on as I didn't realize it was slugging and OBP.

Now I can agree with Horns to keep Napoli and Soria.

I think Youk is a definite keeper at $31, especially since 1B/3B look a little thin this year.

I'd keep Soria also. I rank only Papelbon higher.

Nice keeper list, by the way.

Our league does start two catchers - thanks for the reminder there.

I assume he means AL. But Chance's league includes Cubs, Cards, and Brewers. Marmol might have something to say about who is best.

I forgot about the extra clubs. I was just talking about the AL. But, I'd put him with Marmol. Marmol strikes out men by the hundreds, but he walks a bunch of them, too.

Hey now. Give a Cubs fan a bone. He K's 138 and walked 52 in 77 IP last year. The year before not so good with 93K's and 65 BB in 74 IP. But in 2008 he was 114 K's, 41 BB in 87 IP. That my friend is a pretty good three year ave.

Oh add in 57 holds and 6 blown saves in 08 and 09.

Out of your whole posted list, here's who I'd keep:

                    Corey Hart - 10
                    Ben Zobrist - 10
                    David DeJesus - 8

                    Paul Konerko - 20
                    Shaun Marcum - 9
                    Dallas Braden - 6
                    Jeremy Guthrie - 1

                    Other possibilities:

                    Jake McGee - 3
                    Wade Davis - 8
                    Joakim Soria -19
                    Mike Napoli - 13

                    Kevin Youkilis - 31

If you wanted to go cheaper, you could opt for Davis or (gulp) Guthrie instead of Soria or Napoli.
This... though honestly I keep McGee and toss back Dejesus or Napoli. I think he earns way over $3 somehow this year.
