And some trades. The draft starts March 1. It is a semi dynasty format. I have only 1 pick in the first 17 rounds.

    2B - Pedroia
    3B - Beltre
    SS - Jed Lowrie
    OF - Rajai Davis
    OF - Travis Snider
    OF - Adam Jones
    OF - Michael Cuddyer
    Util - Danny Espinosa
    SP - Zack Grienke
    SP - Clay Buchholz
    SP - Wandy Rodriguez
    RP - Chris Pérez
    RP - Luke Gregerson

How does it look. I won in 2009, largely on Greinke's back. Last year I kept Ellsworth, Zobrist and Julio Borbon. It did not go as well. How does it look this year?

First my disclaimer. I have never played in a Dynasty format. However, both my leagues are very deep and several college and HS players are on reserve rosters. Still take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

For a 16 team mixed it seems that you have a very average team. My first thought was that I like many of them as individual keeps, but not so much collectively. I do not like your outfield (should have a least one stud). I do not like Jed Lowrie as a keeper in a 16 team mixed. I understand wanting to keep Espinosa for the future but again I am not sure that is a wise move for this year. I guess I would really need to know more about your rules, what is back in the draft, and what the other teams look like.

Looks better than average to me. Light on power but the other hitting cats look good. Good pitching staff.

      Ottawa Triple Eh's | P.I.M.P.S. | 14 team keep forever
      Champions 16,21 | Runner up 17,19-20

The FOS (retired) | MTARBL | 12 team AL 5x5
      Champions 01,05,17 | Runner up 13-15,20

        Our keeper system is tiered.

        1) 4 required keepers, no restrictions
        2) Previous season draft/keeper round minus 3. Eg Snider was drafted in round 16, so his option is round 13
        3) Undrafted players slot rounds 10 to 17, based on Yahoo ranking. The schematic looks like this.

        T Alex Rodriguez (K)
        Joey Votto (K)
        Zack Grienke (K)
        T Ian Kinsler (K)
        pick - traded
        pick - traded
        Wandy Rodriguez (7)
        pick - aquired (8)
        pick
        Michael Cuddyer (10)
        T Aubrey Huff (w) 129
        Chris Pérez (w) 163
        Travis Snider (13)
        Rajai Davis (w) 166
        Jed Lowrie (w) 862
        Danny Espinosa (w) 964
        Luke Gregerson (17)
        pick - aquired (18)
        CJ Wilson (18)
        pick
        pick
        pick

I traded ARod, Kinsler, Huff and picks for Pedroia, Beltre, Adam Jones, Buchholz and picks. Lowrie and Espinosa cost picks #233 and #249. Huff, who I traded, cost pick #169.

BTW, what do you think of the trades?

What is the strategy behind the trade?

I had big holes at 2B and SS. I have hopes for Lowrie covering one of those, but not both. Also, I was thinking past 2011, since ARod is 38 and Kinsler is 29, while Pedroia is 28 and Beltre is 31. That is just the principles. Huff is 35, while Jones is 25 and Buchholz is 27. Jones is the dice roll. If he can step up substantially, he might move into the unlimited keeper group. Buchholz has an extra year before he costs that much.

BTW, this is the top 20 available, according to ADP. Uggla and Johnson would gofirst, then probably Morales, Hanson and Gollardo, maybe Sizemore. What is left are useful veterans with limited upside.

            Dan Uggla
            Kendry Morales
            Josh Johnson
            Mariano Rivera
            Yovani Gallardo
            Tommy Hanson
            Heath Bell
            Aramis Ramirez
            Carlos Santana
            Chad Billingsley
            Torii Hunter
            Max Scherzer
            Geovany Soto
            Grady Sizemore
            Jonathan Papelbon
            Brian Roberts
            Rafael Furcal
            Juan Pierre
