I don't disagree with his point, but it is also well within their 1st amendment rights to chastise and drown out hate speech, which is what much of the right wing is spewing these days.

I agree with the general sentiment that everyone needs to be willing to hear those that we disagree with, and that we should be respectful to them, if they warrant that respect. On that caveat, I distinguish between students protesting and leaving the discussion when serious, respected and respectful conservative thinkers are rightly asked to come and speak on campuses, and students protesting that honor being given to trolls and provocateurs with no real value being offered to campus discussion (like Milo and Anne Coulter).

But that caveat stated, yeah, it is disheartening to see when college campuses move from being intolerant of hate-speech and trolls to being intolerant of differing ideologies, often conservative ideologies.

It is troubling that some liberals and especially bastions of education would silence (or try to) any viewpoint. I do believe that some of his examples (walkout protests) aren't people trying to silence opposite opinion, but rather a demonstration that they do not support that opinion. It's also very different to ban people whose speech might incite violence which is different from presenting an opposing viewpoint. IE: I am ok with the KKK holding a rally where they spout their ideals of white supremacy, I am NOT ok if they start advocating violence or suppression of those they feel superior to.

It's like this-- I can call you a Asshat all day, but as soon as I say Asshats should be whipped or prevented from equality. I have crossed the line

Trump, Milo, Coulter and others like them have all advocated violence and/or suppression of others--They, as has been mentioned before, are only speaking to incite--that's NOT acceptable.

Remember, Freedom of Speech is NOT protected if it Breaches the Peace or causes violence.

It does, this was a joking reference (which is not in the context of my conversation with cbb) to when I said, should someone vote an asshat into office they deserve to be dragged from an suv and beaten. Never said I'd do it personally, which is what cbb said incorrectly.
