Kenny Baker, the actor who played R2-D2 in the Star Wars films has passed away at the age of 81.
In an interview on his website, Baker said he initially turned down the role that would define his career.
He recalled telling George Lucas, "I don't want to be stuck in a robot. What for, for goodness' sake?"
The actor told CNN in 1999 that he didn't think the original "Star Wars" film would take off.
"We all thought, 'What a load of rubbish. This is going to be a non-event,'" he said. "How wrong we were."
