  • RHDs top 150 prospects

BA will start posting their Team Top 10 lists on Monday, so I wanted to post this before then. BA's league Top 20's gave me a read on most of the prospects I considered for this list.

I generally follow BA's prospect eligibility requirements, which are <=130 MLB AB or <=50 MLB IP. Unlike BA tho, amateurs, unsigned draftees and foreign players are eligible. As usual, this is for roto, not 'real' baseball, so pitchers are downgraded some, catchers downgraded somewhat (unless they're elite prospects and their bat will play at any position), actual closers upgraded a lot, SB guys who project to get playing time get upgraded some, and guys who either currently are or are project to soon be regulars can get upgraded quite a bit. Position listed is their current primary one to the best of my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong), not the one they're likely to end up at.

After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

If I remember correctly, rhd's original post was well before that trade was finalized. I'd anticipate another list from him soon enough as long as he makes the transition over to this site.

        We miss you, rhd!

Heard this on the MLB channel last night as well.

Thanx for the props, fellas, and thanx Hammer for bringing over the thread. I dont even know how to access the old site, so I couldnt bring it over myself.

Yes, the original post was from November, which was well before the Adrian Gonzalez trade. There were several other trades since in which guys on the list changed teams.

I will post an updated list sometime this coming week. Want to get it up before BA posts their Top 100 list, which probably will be in a couple weeks or so. I will include short write-ups this time, altho I dont know how to format it like a spreadsheet in a thread, so I may post the write-ups separately.

Just curious what your thoughts are on Ryan Lavarnway, catcher for boston.

He has shown lots of power (50 xb in 2010, 22 of them homers), takes a walk, decent ba and on%, doesn't strike out crazy high (105 this year, 113 last year).

On defense, not many passed balls and the caught stealing is over 30%.

He finished in double A with 160 at bats.

I look forward to your thoughts...

                      Thanx for the response, wannabegriffey.

Lavarnway did up his prospect status this year w some strong hitting stats. He's not very close to my list, however. As you may know, catchers rate a downgrade for me in roto, and several catchers that will make many Top 100 lists arent on mine (Sanchez, D'Arnaud, Grandal Romine). Lavarnway is a good ways below even those guys. I've never heard him described as Boston's catcher of the future, and he didnt make BA's BoSox top 10, altho he did make the back end of a League Top 20. I'm not sure he'll stick at catcher either, I've heard that he may be destined for 1B. He'll have to keep hitting to keep himself in the picture.
