I would say about the same or maybe a tiny bit more, but that is because my kids want new phones and my wife wants a desktop scanner.
But from a guy who has to drive past a mall several times a week, and also a HUGE shopping area that is not a mall, about every day, it sure seems like people must be spending a lot more that last year. I specifically remember seeing way more empty parking spaces last year.
